Tonight is Christmas Eve, the night all kids have been waiting for all year long. Santa has already started his journey and last check was headed for Oman. I hope that the lights this year have brought a smile to many faces both young and old. It's been a busy year, but a good year. If your traveling during this Christmas season, be safe. I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. Always remember to keep Christ in Christmas. The lights will be on tonight until midnight, welcoming Santa's arrival. Merry Christmas!

Christmas is upon us once again. Another year has come and almost gone. This past year has been quite busy with work and trying to get the display together to get it going. But, with a little Christmas Spirit this time of year everything comes together. I'm already planning and getting ready for next years display. I have enjoyed watching the smiles on people faces and kids alike. To me, that's what makes all the hard work and time put into getting the display ready worth it. I hope everyone has gotten their Christmas shopping done, as for me, I have a couple more to get. So I'll be hitting the stores this morning. Always remember to keep Christ in Christmas.
I was awarded First Place in the 2012 Bartlett City Beautiful Christmas Lighting Contest. This is my third year doing a lighting display.
The display will not be running tonight due to the weather coming into the area. The display will be back up and running tomorrow night December 10th.
The display is up and running nightly beginning at 5:30. I hope everyone enjoys it and has a very Merry Christmas.
Like most of us that do this each year, I'm already thinking about what to add to next years display. I'll be ordering more lights for the 2013 display the end of this month and next. The display is almost finished. It's been a long, hard 5 days. Over 8,000 feet of extension cords have been laid so far. I'll be able to finish the display tomorrow and get the wiring finished. Then it'll be ready for opening night Thanksgiving Day.
Today as I was running extension cords, people would stop and say how much they enjoyed it last year and were wanting to know when it would start this year. I guess God knew that I was getting tired, but people stopping that I don't even know, and saying how much they enjoyed it gave me that extra burst of energy to keep me focused on why I do it. Pictures will be added soon of the display going up. The lights are beginning to go up. The roof is almost complete, with only the icicle lights remaining. Everything should be going up next week, and a test run to make sure everything is working properly and the songs are timed correctly.
The lights start going up the weekend after Halloween. Hard to believe it's that time of year again. Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. The final touches are being put on all the songs and new items will be added to the display this year. The channel count has grown from 96 computerized channels last Christmas to 144 channels this Christmas. Keep checking the lights come on November 22nd.
Hard to believe that the year has almost passed us by again. The lights will be coming on next month and now I'm in crunch time getting everything ready and finishing up the programming. The lights will start going up in about 3 to 4 weeks. Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
The programming is really ramped up. I'm behind what I want to have programmed by now, but it will come together and everything will get done. It always does with the good Lord's help. I attended the Mississippi Mini Plus (Planet Christmas Lights Up Symposium) back at the beginning of August. I really enjoyed it and got to meet a lot of nice people. I think I do a lot, but compared to some of them, I am no where near what they are doing. It's great to meet the people that have been doing this for years and can explain to you how something works, or how you can achieve what your working toward. You can also borrow ideas from other members to work on and add to your display.
I'm also going to be adding a page to my website listing other displays in and around the Memphis area. Hope you get a chance to stop and see them. You will be amazed. |
AuthorI've always been a big Christmas fanatic when it comes to Christmas Lights. I finally decided to step it up a notch, and learning each year new ideas and ways to control the lights. Getting the display ready throughout the year is fun, and time consuming, but I enjoy every minute of it and would not change a thing. I'm growing the display each year and having fun doing it. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have creating it each year. Archives
